Joint program WITH moscow school of new cinema

The Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences (ILAS) of MIU opens a joint program with the Moscow School of New Cinema (MSNC). Students are given the opportunity to learn two professions in two years of study. Within the ILAS program, students study project management and the modern theory of culture through lectures and seminars on fundamental history of art, philosophy and literature, and within the MSNC program the study one of the specialties of cinema: director, screenwriter, camera operator, actor or sound producer.
Terms and price of the training:
2 years (4 terms)
295 000 rub per year
Training start: October 1, 2019
Application deadline: May 1st to August 19th, 2019

The program is based on Project management in culture, as well as fundamental courses in philosophy, literature, cultural studies, critical theory and art history. All this knowledge will allow the graduate to carry out activities in the humanitarian sphere as a theorist, supervisor or practitioner. Mastering one of the specialties offered by MSNC programs will provide an opportunity to master the profession in practice and enter the world of film industry.

Who it is for

This program is for those who want to:

  • Obtain technical and theoretical knowledge necessary to work in cinema
  • Link their life with culture and art as a manager, supervisor, director, screenwriter, cameraman, actor or sound producer
  • Reach a new level of professional development in their field, having received a fundamental and holistic humanitarian education
  • Be in the center of the intellectual events of the city

This format is based not on learning the craft itself, rather the ability to “see” ideas and approaches to their implementation. During training, there is an opportunity to master the languages, techniques and skills that cinema requires, and to form your own worldview and creative vision.

The educational program will allow you to get a Master’s degree in “Management in culture” and a MSNC diploma in 2 years of study. Training is designed so that a student can comfortably combine studies in two directions with maximum immersion.

The distinctive feature of this educational process is in a unique approach that has not been used in Russia before. Instead of the “linear” system where the training is provided by one master, in MSNC the students learn from different masters. This “modular” system is implemented at the Paris Film School “La Femis” and the Berlin Film and Television Academy DFFB. The duration of such “modules” is from a week to a whole semester.

After successful graduation, the graduate receives a Master’s degree in the field of “Management in Arts and Culture” and a diploma of Moscow School of New Cinema in the chosen area.
